Hello everyone, I currently own a HP p7-1256c Specs:
- i3-2120 CPU
- radeon hd 6670 GPU
- 300W PSU
- Joshua-H61-uATX Motherboard
I wanted to know if I could upgrade my system with a i5-4690k if I changed my motherboard for a GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA 1150 without changing the power supply and if so would it impact my performance in new games?

thanks in advance :)

Solution
Get the i5 4460 it's the price/performance leader for gaming. It also costs over $60 less. :)

If you are not going to overclock, then you can also use a much cheaper motherboard, the ASRock H97M Pro4 which costs under $100.
No. It won't fit. You existing motherboard is a mATX board, a full ATX board will not fit.

If you want only a mild overclock, then the ASRock Z97M Pro4 will do, the ASRock Z97M OC formula for a little more, and the ASUS MAXIMUS Z97 GENE for something serious.

Your PSU will handle it at stock, but your PSU is probably not up to any overclocking. Why do you want a 4690-K? a 4460 is nearly as good.

First of all thank you for your time I really appreciate it, I think i will go for a ASRock Z97M Pro4 because im on a bugdet (and living in canada its hard to get good prices for anything :c) and the reason I chose the i5-4690k is because i heard it was THE gaming cpu and i dont really plan on overclocking anyways, if you have any other cpu suggestions I'd like to hear them if that can save me some bucks :)
