Hi,

I have been thinking of upgrading my GPU and would like to know what steps are needed to ensure everything will be okay in regards to compability to the components I currently have e.g. PSU, Motherboard etc.

PC Specs:

Motherboard: Asus Z87-K
Case: Corsair 300R
PSU: Corsair CX600
RAM: 2x4GB

If there is any more info that needs to be added, please ask!

Thank you

It would be worth getting over the 980, the 980 is about 15%-20% better but i doubt is worth as much as sell prices are, but now that I think about it you wouldn't need a new psu with the 970

This would be my recommendation for you. A new PSU would be better for future upgrades and such but is not needed

Thanks for your input, so my current PSU is insufficient? What about regarding motherboard compabilities?

Motherboard will be perfectly fine. Power supply will be fine, as long as its relatively new and has signs of good life. Read this: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2416573/upgrading-gtx-980-600-psu.html

But if you ever start hearing noises from the power supply then buy a new one, but yours will be fine.

I am considering GTX970 too as its roughly half the price of 980. Would it be worth it to get a 970 instead of 980? and whcih PSU would you recommend?
