I took the hard drive out of my old pc because I need the data on it, but when I plug it into my new pc it does not show up.
Here is the kicker: the old hard drive shows up and works perfectly if I unplug my main drive, and boot from a USB flash drive, but I need to have both my hdd's useable at the same time.
I looked in the BIOS, and it does show up there, but not in device manager, or in disk management
Is this because I had installed an old version of windows on the drive, and if so, how do I get the drive to show up? I do not want to reformat the drive. I am running windows 8.1 and I have the latest drivers. the old hard drive has windows 7 installed on it.
