Hi, i am going to be upgrading my rig to the following:

AMD 955 BE - i5 4690k
ASUS M4A87TD EVO - Asus Z97 PRO
Asus GTX 760- MSI 970

my only question is that i have a Bequiet 530W http://www.bequiet.com/en/powersupply/43 which i have used for nearly 4 years without any issues. When should the PSU be upgraded? Is it advisable to do this now? I dont want the PSU failing and taking my shiny new components with it.

Solution
I for sure advice you to buy a new PSU. The Pure Power L7 is made by FSP, which explains why it have worked good for four years. However, max load on the 12v rail is 360W, and that number has surely decreased with time. That means, with new upgrades, a new PSU is in order..

I recommend this, based on the highly successful Seasonic G-series topology and just overall extremely good quality - one of my favorite PSU's around.

Thank you, that's a bit expensive in the UK. Any other recommendations? Hows the corsair builder series?

Not adviceable. Tell me how much you are looking to spend on a PSU, and tell me what GPU you will be upgradeing too. Then I can suggest a high quality PSU, within your budget which will still power your new GPU.

You could get this power supply, it's pretty close to the xtr series in terms of quality.
Corsair's builder series is pretty bad compared to what you can get for a little bit more. The power supply I linked is a lot better quality, and only a bit more than a CX600.

Oh, sorry. Missed you were buying the 970.

Any of these will do:

Does not work like that. You can't get a quality PSU for under £60 which is still modular. You can get a PSU for under £60 which is modular but sub-par quality, or a high quality PSU but non-modular. Both can only be achieved under £60 when there is a sale or rebates.

Again, the first one I linked is extremely high quality and fully modular for only £9 above your PSU budget:

Yes, that seems like best option. Fully modular plus only £8 more than my budget. Dont see many reviews on it/

Its a Seasonic. The XTR is one of the best PSU's you can buy, along with G2/T2/GS from EVGA or AX/HX/AXi/HXi from Corsair and so on. You will not get any better build quality than the XTR.
