Returned to my parents after a few months and can't connect to netgear... authentication problems with my old window laptop which had been connected in the past. Doesn't accept any user names and/or passwords on file

Solution
Wireless key on router may have been changed or router may have been reset to factory defaults while you were away so check what the existing wireless key is in the Netgear Genie utility using a PC or laptop which has a working connection to your router:

To login to your Negear router open any web browser, type www.routerlogin.net -- then press <Enter>.
Default Username = admin
Default Password = password

When you've obtained the correct wireless key, please remove existing, non-working connection on your laptop and start over by creating a new connection.

Remember that wireless key is case-sensitive so take care when typing it in during connection setup.
