Valve and Bethesda have ganged up to start charging people for fan made mods much to the outrage of most the Steam community.
Many people have pointed out that there seems to be little Valve can do to stop people stealing other modders work from nexusmods.com and then uploading it to steam as their own and making money from it.
My understanding is that Valve have said that they don't really care about who owns what as no one can prove who is a rightful owner of what mod or part or a mod etc. They seem to be only interested in the enormous 75% cut they take!
Gamers around the world have taken to www.change.org to petition Valve to remove the paid content feature of the workshop:- http:// The number of people voting has reched 84,975 in just 1 day!!!
The forums (of which I have now been perminantly banned, along with others for raising my disdain about the paywall) are frantic with hundreds of new threads started and commented on in just the last 24 hours.
Some witty modders have even taken their protest to the next level by posting funny 'premium worshop content' up for sale already like the hilarious Apple Mod that charged £29.99 for an apple on a pub counter. You can read more here:- http://
Please let me know what you think and also maybe let Steam know too.
