Hello, I really need some help. Since i upgraded from winXP 32bit to win7 64bit, i had no sound at all. Installed realtek sound drivers, checked device manager (the sound tab only listed "High Definition Audio") but still the playback devices list is empty. The headphones (they have cable-intergated mic) are not dead, I can use them on my phone. Tried multiple functioning headphones. It can't be the audio jacks because every microphone is listed (including the heaphones' one). The BIOS option for integrated audio is not present. A virtual audio cable works, so I suspect it is the integrated audio card that has mental problems.

Is the typical yellow exclamation point in device manager? It seems out there isn't an audio option in your BIOS as well, is it an OEM branded board? Also, are there other drivers versions available to download on the manufacturers site? Since nothing has changed other than your OS, that would seem to take a hardware problem out of the equation.

No, as I said the "speaker" icon in Device Manager under the sound tab is fine (no yellow icon, no down arrow etc). The mobo is ASRock N68C-S UCC. I can't find anything on the ASRock website.

You should have an entry in device manager called "Realtek high definition audio" if the drivers are properly configured, the High Definition Audio is the generic audio drivers from Windows itself. However, glancing at the Asrock site, its not showing that your board has Realtek audio, it uses Via Audio, which is listed under the Windows 7 64-bit drivers section. http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68C-S%20UCC/?cat=Download&os=Win764
