Solution
HX318C10FBK2/8 is a two module kit. Memory manufacturers don't guarantee compatibility when combining multiple kits because the two kits have never been tested together. Of course you are free to do your own compatibility testing.

FX CPUs support 1866MHz speed with one DIMM per channel.
FX CPUs support 1600MHz speed with two DIMMs per channel.
THE ASRock 970M Pro is a dual channel memory motherboard.
Higher frequencies require overclocking.

So if I have 2 - 4GB @ 1866MHz & 2 - 8GB @ 1866MHz it won't work
but if I had 2 - 4GB @ 1600MHz & 2 - 8GB @ 1600 MHz it would?
If I overclock the 1866MHz it will work??
