Hi, I would like to build my own budget PC, mainly used for watching HD movies & playing HON & DOTA 2.

I would like some opinion about my build here --> http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WKfzgs

I handpicked the motherboard, graphic card & ram myself, the rest I select based on price & popularity. I would like to keep it under $1k, am thinking the Gcard might be overkill/underused for HON/DOTA 2.

I am using a LED TV as monitor, connected via HDMI, & I intend to install Windows 10 on my new PC, so the price for that I'm not sure. I would also like to install budget liquid cooling for my PC, but I do not know where to select it. Appreciate some help there. Thanks! :)

Also forgot to add, I've reading up on differences between DDR3 & DDR4 rams. Any advice on whether I should use DDR3 or DDR4? This is for future forecasting, in case of new updates in softwares/hardwares/games needing DDR4 ram to process better. The best I garner so far is that DDR4 mainly consumes less power, the amount of which is negligible for personal computer. Better latency & Mhz speed, but i doubt i'll notice those too. I don't do graphics editing or video editing.

DDR4 requires X99 platform which will result in more expensive CPU. That said, you won't build a decent $1000 PC with a DDR4 RAM.

Now back to your build: the part choices are… let's say, unbalanced, 'cause they are not bad per se.
You're pairing non-OC CPU with OC board. Also, that SSD is a little bit expensive.

If you're planning to play only DOTA2 and other non-demanding games, it's easy to build PC for that for less than $1000.

I see you need OS and don't need a monitor. Do you need smth else, like peripherals? Do you want to stream your games? And why do you want a liquid cooler?

If you don't want to stream, switch CPU to i5-4590

Thanks Maesters for your advice. I've learned that since I don't overclock, don't buy OC boards & unlocked CPUs.

However, all of you recommend slightly pricey CPUs & GPUs...is there a cheaper combo? Is GTX 970/960 wasted on a newbie like me who doesn't play high end games?

Was considering liquid cooler because my previous custom build PC died from overheating (clogged dust in I/O) & my technician tells me I have to replace whole board because the ICs are no longer available...so I thought that better cooling might prolong my new PC's life?

I try to budget around $1k, because I am from East Malaysia, & I will not have the benefits of US citizens enjoying mail-in rebates & discounts, & having a vast selection of choices to choose from. To enjoy proper warranty in my country, I must buy from local shops, of which the products will come with GST & other customs import tax. The prices here are very nice to look at, but I doubt I can buy at such prices in Malaysia.
