Hi guys,

I am hoping to use the following sound card on my laptop: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/dT0AAOSwPhdVKxAR/$_57.JPG

But I don't want to have to connect it every time I bring my laptop home and dock it. I simply want this to be plugged into my dock's USB ports. So, when the laptop is docked, I don't have to insert the PCMCIA sound card separately.

Are there any solutions or 'readers' where you can connect a PCMCIA card to a laptop via a USB port?

Thank you

Because:

1) Tried Audigy 2 NX and it doesn't seem to output "LINE IN" to all 7 speakers. Just the front two.

2) Don't think non-creative soundcards have CMSS-like capability to upmix stereo to surround sound?

Thanks for your reply. Here is what I am trying to do. I have a laptop and a set of 7.1 surround sound speakers. I want to have a perfect surround sound speaker setup which plays movies (in surround), plays games (in surround), plays music (in 'virtual surround'), and plays my guitar (via 'line-in' in 'virtual surround').

Basically, I do not want to 'waste' any of my speakers in cases of a true stereo output (where only 2 channels are being outputted through the front two speakers). I want the stereo to use all 7 of my speakers. I also want the line-in to use all 7 of my speakers. Do you see what I am trying to do?

I bought a USB creative 7.1 Audigy 2 NX soundcard. It's great, however, the one thing it won't let me do is let me play my guitar (i.e., "line-in") on all 7 speakers. It only plays it on front two speakers.

I know that soundcards are capable of doing this because my old (internal) Audigy 2 ZS soundcard let me do all of this perfectly. But for some odd reason, Audigy 2 NX cannot play line-in from all 7 speakers.

So I thought, let's go with the PCMCIA card for my laptop. But instead of having to plug in the card, I could just buy like a USB PCMCIA reader. This way, I would simply have to dock my laptop, and all systems would be 'go'. I wouldn't have to do anymore fiddling around. And if you look at the picture, you will see that it is not some single 3.5 mm jack. It has three outputs to a 7.1 surround speaker system.

Let me know what you think and what the best way is to go about this.

Thanks!
