Hello,
I've had my Dell Inspiron 545 for 5 years now, everything was running perfectly until the original sata hd failed last week. So I brought a new sata2 hd and tried to install win7, it would go as far as where it's showing "completing installation.....", then everything just stops. The power and lights are still on, but nothing happens as I just leave it for a few hours. I've tried a few times to install win7 doing different things such as removing memory, unplug everything I don't need, using different installation disk, and such. Same thing happens every time.

my Dell Inspiron 545 specs:
BIOS A12 11/17/2009
Intel Q8200
DDR2 sdram 8gb
HL-DT-ST dvd+-rw
Seagate ST31000340AS (failed)

new drive:
WDC WD5000avds-63u7b

Please help, could it be something other than hd?

Thank you TheN00bBuilder for your reply.

I tried 2 different Win7 CD's and these are the one I used on other systems which installed without any problem.
The drive has IDE turned on.
