so, i'd LIKE to get 16G of ram for my machine, but I've spent too much on other stuff so budget is tight. tighter than a duck's butt. I've got 4 slots to play with.

but yeah, AMD Radeon branded ram? what's special about it? I see it sold in single sticks quite a lot, unlike other brands which only sell in 2 or 4 packs. does this mean I can buy 1 stick today, and in 4 months buy another stick, and they will jive together? if so, this will let me see if 8 is enough, and just add until i'm happy or i hit 4 slots / 32G.

Nothing's really special about it. Not even made by AMD, or their old foundry (now the independent company GlobalFoundries); it's sourced from the open market, from one of the few remaining DRAM manufacturers.

They do have a RAMdisk program that you can get cheaper if you own AMD memory. But RAMdisks are kind of useless for most situations, so... whatever.

ah, ok, so it's nothing special at all. might as well start buying Adata or GSkill or whatever is in my affordability range. the AMD Radeon ram is actually a touch more expensive than the other brands, but i thought that since it's also in singles that it would be "always matched" even if i buy separately.

and my mobo is blue :( a decidedly non-AMD colour (actually more of an intel colour, go figure). so best case i ignore the colours or give preference to blue / white. yeah, parts of the case are white (fractal core 1500, so expansion covers and hdd trays are white)
