Do I Need a CPU for the BIOS Update? (ASUS Maximus VI Hero)

As I stated in the title, I have purchased an ASUS Maximus VI Hero motherboard. I've had it for a year now and its part of my first PC build. I plan to get the Intel i5-4690k "Devil's Canyon" CPU, but I'm not sure whether or not I have to update my BIOS first. I've read in some places that I need a Haswell CPU that fits the BIOS criteria to update it. I don't own any other PC that uses an Haswell. I was wondering, can I just update the BIOS while using the Devil's Canyon, or do I need to find another Haswell CPU then update it? Sorry for any misunderstandings I have, it is my first time making a computer.

Sorry guys! I messed up the purpose behind my problem. I want to know If I can update the bios with or without the processor. Should I get the i5 then update or can I update it without? Again, sorry for the mix up, guys.

Chipset: Z87
Parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nmQW6h
(As of right now, I have everything but the disc drive, the OS, and the CPU. Any concerns or problems that you see in the list, feel free to point them out)

Thank you for your help :D

Well I'm not concerned about actually updating it now, but I'm not sure what hardware to have installed or whether or not I need a CPU I'm the socket.
