I am building a computer around an AMD FX-9590 and have concerns about what to use for a cooler. I am worried that the high power draw of the CPU will cause heat issues, and I am not interested in going with a liquid cooling option due to issues with reliability. I have an air cooler that I am looking at that one article used for a FX-9590 build, I just want to know if it will work.

TL;DR will the Noctua NH-U12S keep the AMD FX-9590 cool enough for gaming.

Here is the article I am referring to:
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/62166-amd-fx-9590-review-piledriver-5ghz-2.html
Page 2 for their build.

EDIT: There are people saying buy water cooling, buy Intel, blah blah.
TO BE CLEAR I do not want liquid cooling and WILL NOT use it. I already have an Intel system, I am building an AMD one just because I can. I do not want anything other than recommendations on air coolers that will work or, if the case may be, that this CPU cannot be cooled by an air cooler.

Thank you.

You might as go for H80i most shops sell it cheaper than h100i that's if you want to water cool, the H100i is not even a big of an improvement to H80i what a joke of a price they gave it.

Air cooling i guess you should do for noctua dh-14 or the noctua u12p(se2) which is cheaper and not far from dh-14's performance would be good too

The best cooler I've found for my FX9590 is the Lepa AquaChanger 120 Cooling Unit LPWAC120-HF. It's aesthetically pleasing and does the job, while maintaining a minimalistic flavour to it--a luxury for smaller boards. I've yet to find a liquid cooler that performs better than it, and I've gone through three different Corsair H series (H60, H100i, H55) but nothing even came close. Just my two cents.

I wouldnt use anything short of the NH-d14/15 or PH-TC14PE

Though you did specify it in your post, I am obligated to mention it: I dont recommend this processor, if you want an AMD build however, just get an 8320 and OC it to the same level, same performance for less money.

I've used about four coolers (only two on my 9590, the stock coolermaster and the Lepa). My vote is for the Lepa: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RDLA9VO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also it's an aesthetically pleasing piece of hardware. Keeps my 9590 extremely cool and is perpetually silent. I am very impressed with it, especially given the demanding specs of this particular CPU.
