Trying to learn more about AMD CPUs

I built a computer very similar to this:

CPU: AMD A4-4000 3.0GHz Dual-Core Processor (£21.80 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: MSI A88XM-E35 Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard (£40.00 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£47.99 @ CCL Computers)
Storage: Seagate 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive (£59.98 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case (£24.99 @ Ebuyer)
Power Supply: XFX ProSeries 450W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£38.94 @ Aria PC)

... a year or so ago for a friend to use as a general office PC, and that system worked really well.

So now I want to build a similar system for my Father, but a year having passed, I'm trying to find out whether a more recent AMD APU than the A4000 is available that would be a better choice.... but despite lots of reading around I'm not finding the info I need.

So.... can anyone give me good advice on the above proposed system? How the spec could be improved, without dramatically increasing cost? Is there a newer, better alternative to the AMD A4-4000, a low-cost chip with integrated graphics?

AMD A6-6400K.

Up at the top of Toms web site, you will see a "CPUs" link. Click on it. And right at the top of that page is "Best Gaming CPUs For The Money: April 2015". Now I know you are not setting up gaming machines, but nearly everything you want to know about the best CPU's out there is broke down for you there. And the nicest part, is that they are broken out by price. You should be able to make your own choices easily with that information, and that list is updated regularly.
