Hi ladies and lads,

My lovely computer is going to shit after 4 years of use (Psu+ consistent fan errors) and I am looking to get an upgrade/replacement. I am comfortable when it comes to digging in hardware, but if there are shops that are able to ommit parts (e.g ship without a dedicated GPU), I could be keen to potentally get a partial store build version, as opposed to building from scratch.

Main questions:
1) Do you know shops that will sell incomplete- but set up PCs?
2) What Mobo would you reccomend for i7+SLI
3)What output would you reccomend on a mondular PSU for futureproofing additional expansion in the pc.
4) Coolingwise: I am looking for a setup that will be able to run rather quitely on passive and basic gaming, but will provide enough cooling for overclocking when necessary. Any tips?

The parts that I will bring into the new PC from my old rig are:
-MSI 970 GPU (I will get a second one if I ever switch to 4k screen from my current 1440p, and yes I am aware of its theoretical imperfection regarding the memory size)
-2x 500gb SSD
-1 2TB SSd
-8Gb of memory

Use for the PC:
-Main office PC + Ability to play games (all new ones) on ultra settings at 1440p (+second screen for data)

Thank in advance guys!

Kind regards,
Dmitry

No real need for overclocking an I7-4790k, so that shouldn't really come up. It will already run at 4.4Ghz, and most air overclockers hit around 4.6-4.7 before temperatures get to high. Hyper Evo 212 is a mid-range cooler. If you want a little more performance, or some better color matching: Thermaltake NiC coolers are a nice match. Phanteks TC14PE Red version is about the biggest air cooler you could potentially get.

Not sure if you needed a new case or not, but tossed one in anyway.

GTX970 each pull about 145W, a fully overclocked and voltaged Haswell chip can pull about 160W, so plenty left over for everything. Fully modular.

For an SLI capable computer I would not buy many of the pre-builds available. There are of course many custom suppliers and boutique builders that will put whatever you want in a chassis.

Without a country, currency, budget, and a more precise list of your existing components, ie what you plan to re-use, it will be hard to make a recommendation.

Ok that was bloody stupid on my part.... long day at work.

I am based in the UK -> Scotland, so the currency will be the almighty pound.
The budget is negotiable, but I would aim on at 0.6-0.8k for the new rig (inc Vat). I think this should be well doable as I do not need a new GPU/HardDrive/Ram.

As for a place to build it for you, a few names standout:

https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/
http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/
http://www.utopiacomputers.co.uk/

https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Cyberpower_Z97_I7_Configurator/

Can get pretty close to the build you want with that link, but you would have to buy ram, and at minimum another cheap hard drive, it looks like. Power supply choices are a bit limited, but the higher end ones they offer aren't terrible.

All of those companies (Amazon UK, Novatech, Ebuyer, Aria PC, and More Computers) have a great "guarantee/warranty" program.
