i have been trying to fix this problem for almost a month now with no luck.
i have cleaned the ssd, but it didnt help. the guide that came with the ssd didnt help either because it told me i had to have a hardive to usb adaper which i dont have the money to buy and the time to wait for and because of that i cant use the install navigator disc that came with the ssd. i hope you can help me

First you should make sure your sata ports are in AHCI mode in the bios. You can find it under Settings> Advanced> Integrated Peripherals. Sata port mode is near the bottom.

Next you need to make sure you created a bootable flash drive. Just copying the Windows file to a flash drive will not work. Most people use a program to do this part easily. Like the one free from Microsoft.

Basically, with the pc unplugged you install the 840 evo. It needs two wires. A Sata cable for data that goes from the drive to the motherbd, and a power cable that comes from your power supply.

Next you install the bootable flash drive, connect power, and turn it on.

Watch the bottom of your screen for the option to press a key to select boot...

Watch the bottom of your screen for the option to press a key to select boot device. The wording of this message varies with the bios. But its usually one of the F-keys at the top of your keyboard. Press that key and a window will appear asking you to select a drive/device. You are looking for one that says UEFI: xxxxxxxx where the x's are your usb, flash drive, or it might even say windows 7

From that point on the windows install for uefi is the same as for a bios based motherbd. Follow the prompts and do as directed. After the bulk of the intstall is done it will want to reboot. It tells you to remove the boot disk which for you means to unplug the flash drive. :)

So this is a desktop PC, right?
Is the drive actually connected properly?
Are you actually booting from the USB drive and the Windows installation?
