the i3-4160 only has .1 more mhz, and i heard the i3 isn't the best for gaming, but why not keep my build like it is, whats wrong with it?

You can't compare Intel and AMD with GHz because of different architecture. or even judge 2 Intel or AMD CPU base on GHz i3-4160 has core speed of 3.6 GHz and i7-4770 is 3.4 GHz but i7 is clearly better.

Why would you keep your build if you can get better one for less money. i gave you links to better CPU, quality motherboard , more powerfull GPU, case with far better cable management and very quality PSU.

Links to Benchmarks which show that i3 totally destroys FX-6300 and even FX-6300 big brother FX-8320 (and another thing in favour of i3 is that with H97 motherboard will support new Intel CPUs that will come out in the future so you wont need to change your motherboard too. About AMD Socket for FX-6300 which is AM3+ is DEAD AMD wont release any new CPUs for AM3+ socket)

http://www.hardwarepal.com/best-cpu-gaming-9-processors-8-games-tested/

For the quality PSU you can look here XFX PSU from the link is the cheapest PSU from Tier 1 or 2 that has enough "juice" for R9 280 (PSUs from Tier 1 or 2 are good anything below is not good quality)

Any more questions ? Just ask

isnt a hexa core better than a dual core?

Didn't you look at the link i gave you. Yes i3 is dual core but because of hyper threading it acts like quad core. AMD CPUs have weak cores and Intel CPUs have strong cores that why dual core beats hexa core only newest games use 4 cores and by that i mean 5% of games so its better to have less strong cores cores tha more weak cores everything over 4 cores i wasted in gaming unless you will be streaming while playing

Maybe i am looking at the wrong model or something. But if i am looking at the right one Macbook Air 2013 only has 4gb of ram, 1,440 x 900 res. screen, it runs on itegrated graphich card and 2 core CPU. if that is true its total shit for the amount it costs

I want Core i7. Bigger screens are more fun to game on and 8GB of RAM will be enough for my son’s gaming PC. I don't know about the graphic card requirements. Suggest me the best option if anybody can.

@jefferysummer If you are planning to buy a multimedia gaming laptop, Lenovo Y50 Gaming Laptop is a best option for you with touchscreen, and full 4K resolution. It is powered by a 4th Generation Intel Haswell Core i7 Quad Core processor paired with the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M Maxwell discrete graphics processor. It’s also built with lots of features that is geared towards multimedia and gaming.

jefferysummers: I didn't get a budget nor location but from what it sounds like you're going for an all round PC that can game, look good, function well and maybe deal with school work. This is a rig that'd do all of those without a stress. I kept a red and black theme for this too.
