ever since i first built my PC I would get a single short beep everytime i turned it on, other than this its works great but Im finally fed up and ive decided to get to the bottom of it,
I using an Asus M5A97 R2.0 Evo,
according to the Asus website:
One short beep= VGA detected
Quick boot set to disabled
No keyboard detected

my keyboard is connected, Im using HDMI and ive never disabled quick boot,
my only guess is that is 'VGA' means any video output?

The manual shows a speaker header. The speaker is mainly used for debugging problems so you can safely unplug it if the beep bothers you.

If there's an on-board speaker as well you might try putting a piece of tape over the hole.
