Except for the mic stuff and lighting and braided cable (which I don't care about), I saw on their site the only difference is the drivers on the 7.1 Chroma are 40mm to the USB's 32mm. What difference will this make and more importantly will it affect the virtual surround sound capabillity?

The driver size makes big difference. But I would highly suggest you not to buy a USB headset. They have an okayish soundcard in them, but If you have a better soundcard, you can't use it with USB headsets. If you don't see yourself getting a soundcard(and your integrated one sucks) then ofc USB is better cause you don't have static in the mic.

As I said before, you CAN'T use these headphones with soundcards(you can't use anything that has an USB connector). These have their own little soundcard in them, which is probably doesn't even sound as good as you mb one. You can pretty much get a much better headset for that price with a simple jack connector, that you can use with the soundcard in your system. Also, your MB soundcard can simulate virtual surround sound to any stereo headphone just as these RAZER ones do. Get a good stereo gaming headphone, or, if you don't need the mic, just get a studio headphone. You'll have a much better experience with those.
