Is it worth upgrading my GPU?

I have an EVGA GTX 770 2GB SC edition GPU. I recently got a 1440p monitor. Games look great but the higher resolution makes the games I played 10-70 FPS less in some cases when playing the games I always have. What GPU should I look to upgrade to for 1440p if I should.

If an upgrade is worth doing should I wait for the R9 300 series? I am in no rush so waiting for a new GPU is fine. As for my CPU I am running the i5-2500k at stock speeds with 16GB of RAM. Plan to upgrade to Skylake CPU when they are available for purchase so will need the CPU upgrade to be taken in account as well. Thanks, any and all impute is appreciated.

ya I would just put up with what you have till you can afford the 290X then, or wait for the 300 series to drop, might be a good idea to wait as all the prices will change

Now for the R9 300 series would waiting for a 380x from what we know in rumors be better to wait? Or Nvidia 980 all the way? I think the VRAM is my primary problem as my GTX 770 only has 2GB and the extra resolution is running out of VRAM in the instances a lot of action is happening all at once.

if you want to wait for the 300 series then go for it, they should be some awesome cards, personally waiting to see the 390 before I buy 2 290X's and depending on what games you play and how you like you graphics, you may need to look at a 290, might get away with a 280X for some games with things like AA turned off, provided you haven't got a 120hz monitor
