Bought a cheap combo deal from Newegg to refurbish my old gaming PC into a media center to connect to my home theater.
AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad-Core 3.7GHz Socket FM2+ 95W AD860KXBJABOX Desktop Processor (BLACK EDITION)
GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) 8 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
From what I read in the motherboard users manual, the Corsair Vengeance Pro series DDR3 2133MHZ 2x4GB (CMY8GX3M2A2133C11)that I already have is compatible.
I was reading a cpu vs cpu comparison @ http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Pentium-G3258-vs-AMD-Athlon-X4-860K and read the "Memory Controller" section of the comparison.
It states that the built in memory controller is DDR3 1866.
I have a bit of a sick feeling because I just spent $164 to upgrade my gaming computer to 2x8GB of the same RAM when I should've just bought something cheaper for my combo deal.
Do I have to go buy different RAM for this combo? I appreciate your time
Thank you
