Connected to internet, but cannot browse

My windows 7 laptop can connect to the internet, but unable to browse.

I can ping www.yahoo.com with zero loss
when I type ipconfig I am seeing my IP address

I have 4 other computers connected to the internet at home here no issues, it is just this one computer.

I have tried multiple browsers. I have tried both wired and wireless I even copied a chrome installer exe from a usb drive to the computer and ran it. When I double clicked the exe it WAS able to download the chrome software and install it, so I am definitely connected to the internet. But if I try and open a website, chrome says ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED.

I.E. and firefox as well, no connection.

Thank you for your help in advance!

Solution
Have you looked at the "Internet Options" in control Panel? These settings are not just for IE, some are global.

In the "Connections" tab, run the Internet "Setup" and see what happens.

Look at the other tabs. Some deal with security, privacy, content, etc.

Run Complete Internet Repair, and restart the computer.... If the problem persists, check your Lan Settings according to the solution for Error 138.. if still nothing, reset the HOSTS file, or just check it against the text under "Reset the Hosts file manually". Restart the computer after applying each fix.

Reset the Hosts file back to the default

If still having the problem after the previous suggestions, scan for malware and adware with these programs

Malwarebytes Antimalware Free

AdwCleaner

I just spent some time in there looking around. When I hit that 'setup' button, it says I am already connected to the internet.

I'm not seeing anything else in there to play with :(

I do know the software and it's perfectly safe.... I would not be recommending it otherwise. In Complete Internet Repair; Check all boxes except for these three,
1. Box 6 - Clear Windows update history
2. Box 7 - Repair Windows / Automatic Updates
3. Last box - Repair workgroup Computers view

When the repair is done restart the computer... that's all for that software.. This program resets the Hosts file so after a restart only check the file against the text under "Reset the Hosts file manually" in the support.microsoft.com article, just to make sure it's the default file.

Next See if the Internet connection is restored, and proceede to the next fix(es) if necessary.

To check Error 138: In Internet Options / Connections / LAN Settings / just see if only "Automatically detect settings" is checked... that's all for this fix.

It's probably a browser hijacker... bugs are disabled in Safe Mode... Malwarebytes and/or AdwCleaner should get rid of it.

Thank you for your time, I appreciate it.

I ran the software with ALL the options checked (before I saw the above message). It didn't fix my issues. Also, the lan settings are set to automatically detect.

I ran malwarebytes. It found MANY problems, but after rebooting after the scan, I still have the issue. I'll try adwcleaner now.
