i basically purchased a gtx 780ti sc acx evga for 300 bucks on ebay , i had the option of going with the tri x r9 290x & a gtx 970 for 300 bucks to..... i have a 1440p 120hz ips monitor and i just wanted to know if the decision i made was a good one....

i checked a bunch of benchmarks and it always shows the 780ti in the lead in some games... my processor is a i5 3570k clocked at 4.7 ghz

i do plan on flashing the bios on the 780ti and putting some CLU on the die

780Ti is still a great card and is capable of beating the 980. The only downside is the 3GB of VRAM, but yes it is an extremely capable card at 1440p. I play the majority of my demanding games with DSR 3840x2160 with my 780Tis. Watchdogs I'm able to play on a single 780Ti at 2715x1527 DSR with temporal AA and HBAO+ High and get 55FPS Average. Nice overclock on that 3570K btw.

Cupla things to think about .....

a) If the 980 Ti drops soon, that will drive prices down further.
b) The 390x will have the same effect and should drop sooner.
c) For the most part, the better 780 / 780 Ti are not thermally limited; I have gotten the same OCs on MSI 780 on air as I have on my WC'd Asus 780s. Historically, however the SC series doesn't do much with VRM and VRAM cooling so if not adequate, I'd add some thermal pads or heat sinks there.
d) Flashing BIOSs on the 7xx series has resulted in better OCs, I have not seen significant increases in benchmark performance however as a result of those bigger OCs
e) Ya need a bigger PSU w/ the Ti

ty , that clock also is on a hyper 212 evo....im gonna try to delid and put clu to get a bit more prob 4.9 maybe

i guess i did the right decision on the gpu, saw it at that price and its basically brand new in the box

Yeah, that's a lot cheaper than I paid for mine. With 2 of these cards I draw around 750W with my 5930K @1.298V. If I over-volt them about 770W.
