Hello,

I'd like to reinstall windows but I want to keep the data on the slave drive,

if i reinstall windows will I lose the ability to view the data on the slave drive ?

I know during windows setup, there's a lineup of the hard drives connected.
As long as I don't erase the partition on the slave drive will I be able to access my files still ?

I'm installing Windows 7, I'm on XP right now, I only have 60GB for my primary drive so I don't really wanna go for a dual boot.

Thanks

Reinstalling Windows won't prevent you from accessing other drives or partitions.

If the slave drive (as you call it) is a separate physical hard drive, you should disconnect it before installing Windows to avoid any risk of choosing the wrong drive for the installation.

If the 'slave' is simply a partition on your system hard drive, be careful when choosing a partition to reformat prior to installing Windows. Reformat only the partition where existing Windows installation is located, then reinstall Windows there.

I assume you've already checked that you can get Windows 7 drivers for your PC model from the manufacturer's website (or from motherboard manufacturer's website whichever applies in your case)?
