Weird problem with booting, faulty motherboard?

Hi there, I've build computers in the past but this is my first build from all new pieces so as you can imagine I'm a little frustrated. Haha.

Specs
X99S SLI Plus
5820k i7 2011-3
MSI GTX970 G4
Corsair Vengeance 16GB 2666MHz
EVGA 850W G2
Coolermaster Hyper Evo 212
Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I (wireless/bluetooth pcie)
Logitech G502 mouse
Corsair K95 Keyboard
PB287Q 4k Monitor
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD

Basically when I tried to boot initially the system wouldn't boot, the fans would spin for a second and then it would all turn off and start again ina constant loop.

I took it apart and redid the connections on the pcie, power connectors and ram (I know that this is most frequently the problem when this occurs).

Still nothing.

Cleared the CMOS and physically removed the CMOS battery and then tried again, still nothing.

Left it for a while and fiddled about with the connections some more. Eventually tried removing the WiFi PCIE Gogabyte card and it booted slowly and I managed to get into the BIOS.

The BIOS worked fine, although when I tried to install windows off a USB 2 of the rear USB 3.0 on the IO wouldn't work, I had to use a different USB on a different "soldered tower" if that makes sense.

Installed windows normally.

Booted into windows after first reboot and the BIOS logo that appears around POST normally wouldn't leave the screen. Instead a spinning circle (like you see on the windows loading screen when the background is meant to be black) appeared on top of the POST logo. I thought this was weird but it still booted into windows very quickly.

I installed all the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website via USB. Then updated the mobo BIOS as that that might be the problem.

After doing this I put in the WiFi PCIe card again and it started working. However now the rear non-working USB slot has changed to a different set. If I move the WiFi PCIe card about this continues to change. Very strange.

I then started to work on getting the 4K running correctly through DiplayPort and that simply didn't work. It detects an old VGA monitor through the DVI adapter fine. The HDMI output seems a tad reliable, it works with the 4K monitor fine but only at 30Hz.

If I connect the DisplayPort the Nvidia Control Panel detects it as does windows, but neither will allow me to use it. NCP simply says nothing and doesn't allow me to tick the checkbox for it. Windows shows the 4k monitor as black in the "Screen Resolution" window. If I try to change it so that it's par t of the extended desktop or even a mirror of another monitor I get a caution message saying that these settings cannot be applied.

The same monitor is currently working through hdmi.

Does anyone have any ideas? Should I return the Motherboard and/or the WiFi card and/or the GTX970? This has completely baffled me and I have no idea how to proceed.

Thanks in advance, any and all suggestions are appreciated. :)

Got it sorted I think, RMA'd the motherboard and the shop sent me a new one within 2 days. This one is flawless so it must have been the motherboard.

In relation to the DisplayPort problem I discovered that the cable was a bit loose so I am going to return that one and invest in a more robust one.

Just thought this might be handy information for someone who encounters similar problems :)
