Hello so just now i got the error message AFTER I defragged the hard disk. I did a CHKDSK scan and nothing came up no errors. So what's the problem?

Solution
That's bad. :(
Your WD drive has lots of bad sectors. After you back up all the data stored on it, you can try something like writing zeros(data destructive) on it and retest it. If you get similar results, you will need to get another drive.
In case the drive is still under warranty, you can just contact WD's Support either by e-mail or phone and eventually RMA it.

Hi there lazylemo,

It is good that you have already started backing up your data.
What did the error message say?
I guess you need to test the HDD with some brand specific testing tool. The results should show you whether there is something wrong with the drive.

Cheers,
