Would it be too dumb to have nvidia cards with a freesync screen?

Guys guys guys.
I'm kinda frustrated with crossfire, I bought this two r9 290 Asus direct CU to play GTA5 like a boss and all I'm getting is this awful stuttery experience with no signs of improvement. I know the grass it's always greener in the other side but nvidia boys seems to be having a blast even on SLI configurations and I just can enjoy the game as it is.

I'm getting like 60-80 FPS but it stutters SO BAD.

So, regarding this problem:
For the cards I'm still able to return them with no questions asked.
The screen (Acer 1440p 144hz w/freesync, really good price!) I'm not, still, freesync it's not supported with crossfire.

I would gladly hear opinions.
Thanks!

What are your other specs? I would give it a little time for an updated crossfire profile to come out. I do know that if your serious about multiple graphics card with GTA V you are going to want an i7 otherwise your graphics cards will only be working at a fraction of their full potential.

I know, thats why I asked, would it be in your opinion?

You really don't spend any extra for the freesync feature. There are other features on the monitor that you'll still get use of. If you really want to jump ship, then it's really not much of a loss. Especially if it's not working with Crossfire. I'd be more apt to wait it out, perhaps return the 2nd 290, and wait for the 390 and use that money towards the new card when it is released.
