Some info about me, I'm a Programmer who needed a new PC. Of course, hardware was never really my thing. But when it comes to software and programming; it's definitely my stronger area in comparison to computers electronics and hardware components (even though I am slightly educated in that area).

Anyhow, about two weeks ago I built a new PC with the following specifications:

########################################################
Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming GBE LAN ATX.
HDD: WD 1TB HDD.
NIC: TP-LINK TL-WN881ND.
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 600w
GPU: MSI AMD 280X.
Processor: AMD FX8350 Black Edition 8 Core.
Ram: HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL10 DIMM.
OS: Windows 8.1 64-Bit
########################################################

I must say that this has been the most frustrating experience. Reason being I have had one rather frustrating problem which has now escalated into another which I will detail next.

Problem 1:

Occasionally, I have a problem where the RAM displays as 8GB in the bios. In Windows it shows as 4GB with 4GB hardware reserve. I am 100% certain the ram is inserted correctly. When I shift both the ram modules down a slot each so they are in parallel (of course) Windows then recognises both stick and the hardware reserve becomes 51MB. After using the system for a few hours or maybe a day. Sometimes when I turn the system off and back on it goes back to 4GB with 4GB hardware reserve OR the system randomly shuts itself off and it becomes 4GB with 4GB hardware reserve. Now I'm not entirely sure what is causing this problem... If i switch the slots again it will recognise them only to do the same again imminently.

Yesterday I was told to use Memtest and test the ram. So I did, left it running for about 1 hour and 30 minutes with 2 passes and 0 errors. Does this mean the ram is not faulty? What could be causing this problem? Everything else seems perfectly fine apart from these inconsistent shutdowns.

I was told to manually set the ram frequency and voltages. I changed them from auto (1.496v) to 1.5v and 1600MHz.

Problem 2

So today I left the system on idle whilst I ate. Came back to it powered off and apparently it started checking the HDD and repairing it for some unknown reason. After that I managed to boot into the OS BUT it keeps turning itself off and BSODs occur claiming "INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR". What could be causing this? It just makes no sense at all.

Perhaps the whole system is just a broken mess? What a waste of money. Even if one component is faulty, I have absolutely no idea which one it could be. Right now I just feel like I have wasted my money on a completely non-functional system.

I am truly grateful for any help!
Thank you.

Try and buy a motherboard tester... that'll raise any concerns and issues with the MOBO and it'll specifically say what is wrong with it, if it isn't that, maybe the HDD?

Well there's a possibility the problem is the motherboard. Yesterday after powering the PC on a few hours later there was simply no signal at all. I did not move or touch anything at all. I have since disconnected everything and put it back together leaving out the HDD and DVD Drive with still no signal. *Sigh* I think the motherboard may have died on me..... It could be other things though like bad ram.
