I have been trying like crazy to get this working but nothing I have done has worked. so i have turned to the toms hardware community, Because you guys and gals are good at solving problems. I have this speaker setup (http://gx-gaming.com/?action=products_detail&wtype=feat...).

The speakers are a 2.1 setup and I have IDT integrated HD audio for sound, But I can not get the bass to produce any sound what so ever and searching google has not produced results either. I have pictures of my settings and my config of the speakers here as well. Sorry if those are not clear enough and if you need more details I will gladly give them.
here is the link for the pictures http://pc21audio.imgur.com/all/

first link doesnt work, your photos on second are not publically available.

how 2.1 systems work is that only a 2.0 signal is sent to the speaker set and the subwoofer fires only on the low tones using a low-pass type filter (which is typically adjustable with a knob.

--

run these tests:

-plug the 3.5mm connection from the pc speakers into a phone, mp3 player or other device. play a bassy song. do you hear bass?
-run the above test after turning the subwoofer knob on the back of the unit to the maximum setting.

It should work it works for me I put my phone on it but it busted my S5's radio I can't get data signal anymore now I have to upgrade my phone to get my data signal back :( wasted a 600 dollar phone when I could have bought a much better speaker system for that much it is still not working on the computer FML. I made the imgur public sorry

EDIT: this all happened before you suggested this don't feel like I am blaming you

.......you say you have a 2.1 speaker setup. why do you have your speaker settings set to 5.1? (photo 3). this would explain a lack of bass if your pc is software high-passing the signal on you.

as for your phone, short of an electrical failure, short or lightning strike 3.5mm isnt going to ruin your phones port. the voltages through that jack are very low and your speaker system is set up to receive not transmit on this line. even plugging a 3.5mm 3pole into a cellphones 4pole jack should not do any harm whatsoever (in fact i've done this for 4+ years myself and they are meant to handle this... 2.1 systems use the same 3pole jack).

restart your phone. if it doesnt work, turn off then on the antenna, check that you did not click the data icon on your notification bar to turn data off (easy to do accidentally). worst case, factory reset the phone after you back up all the data and numbers (worst case scenario). i would be VERY surprised if you damaged the antenna from using the headphone jack as this just does not make any sense at all.

I tried stereo and and 5.1 with the other speakers disabled to cover all the bases still could not get bass to work. No the phone is fried did factory reset still says sim not inserted. I put my sim in my girlfriends phone and it works fine. It takes my kind of luck for stuff like this to happen very unrealistic and very low chance, but it still happens anyway. The phone is dead I will replace it on Thursday but if you have any other suggestions that will be good I can try them. Here is what I have done so far loaded a back up before a custom rom was loaded played with the available networks, switched my data band with advanced signal status to 4g 3g etc. , and factory reset also still the same problem, and my sub woofer still isn't working it has been a bad day.

yes it did work until it blew the phone the knob is on the 4th piece where the master volume is (probably should have made more detailed pictures) but it is only a volume control it is not anything special just a standard wood sub box. The sub was pretty nice when connected to the phone for the short time it was just not getting a signal on the pc. Could it be the IDT integrated audio would getting a dedicated sound card fix the issue?

typically the knob on the rear of the subwoofer is not a volume knob. it controls what frequencies the subwoofer will respond at. at higher levels it responds higher and higher up on the frequency chart (meaning it may trigger on mid-bass too) and if you set it low then it will only respond at bass and sub-bass levels. actual volume knobs are typically on the front of the right hand speaker on most pc speaker models. now i cant say for sure that this is true on ALL models but this is definitely how it is typically.

turn this up to max just to be sure it fires on lots of things (until we figure out why its not working)

good to hear that they were working, however since you had a rather major issue happen with your phone it may be a good idea to test it out with another device just to verify that they *still* work fine and nothing blew out on the speakers. normally i'd say you tested this and its not an issue but hardware failures when testing make it questionable making a retest needed.

if they *still* work, then the first thing i'd try on your pc is going to the motherboard manufacturer's (or if its a prebuilt computer, the brand of pc's) site and downloading the newest audio drivers for your pc. create a backup point in windows system restore. next, in windows uninstall a program remove your audio drivers completely. install the new updated audio drivers. make sure to change your settings back to 2.1 sound as well.

after a restart with the above, does it now work? if not, check any eq settings make sure they are default (flat).

-

a soundcard may fix the issue certainly if its a driver issue with your motherboard, though i'd try all of the above first. most notably that the speaker system still works with another device.

Sorry I was in a rush had to get back to work from lunch that was not a very structured sentence. I got the latest drivers same issue it is coming out of the satellite speakers in a artificial bass sound which is not what I am looking for it to do I tried stereo again after loading the drivers no luck. The model of bass I have does not have a voltage level to adjust unfortunately, but I have good news I got home from work and my phone is charging and picking up my sim card now so at the very least that is working. It sort of made my day that is how I get my internet without my LTE I am doomed to dial up, however I would still like my speakers to function correctly could it be that the software is not set up for the 2.1 sound system I found other threads like this though they were for realtek audio my point is their sub was working it was only a software block. Is there a third party audio solution that could fix my issue?

the other test of making sure your sub still work from another device is also beneficial to test for again.

if it does still work fine after testing again, i would say that very likely your issue is driver based. getting a soundcard *should* fix the issue.
