I have a Netgear RangeMax 240 Wireless PC card adapter with the model number WPNT511. I downloaded and installed the wireless assistant software and installed it under Windows 2000. The problem is, is that it refuses to launch, and therefore I cannot connect to any wireless networks.

There is a process in Windows Task Manager called "WPNT511.exe" but no window ever shows up when I attempt to launch it. I even tried using the card and software under Windows XP, and the same issue occurs.

I've scoured the Internet for other programs or drivers but I have not been able to find any. So, as of now, this card is practically useless. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You are using a very old OS. Not sure about compatibility with W2000. You can try and launch the application as an administrator and see if that helps. Also you may try turning off firewall and all security too to install it.

Might I suggest you upgrade to Windows 7.

The software program is designed for both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. You can't launch programs as administrator on anything older than Windows Vista.

This laptop is also much too old to be running Windows 7.
