Ok so I installed a new SSD (Samsung 840 EVO) and I was using a guide from lifehacks, I finally cloned the drive and set it as my boot drive and such and then it told me to move my Desktop, Downloads, Favorites, Links, Documents, Music, ETC. folders from C:/Users/Name/ and it told me to create a folder on my Old Hard Drive the one I will be using as storage and move "Contacts" by right clicking properties and well I thought it would move it into that folder and I noticed it made it that folder. I thought it was because I didn't open the folder and then save the location as to why it did that, so when it came to Desktop I just selected my Hard Drive (F:) and Selected the location to just try and put it under Desktop and it made my HDD my desktop folder...and when I try and create a Desktop folder in C:/Users/Name/ it says "This destination already contains a folder named 'Desktop'. Do you still want to merge this folder?" But the thing is there is no desktop folder in there...I can't system restore because I had it turned off and I don't know what to do! I done messed up so bad! Please help!

How do I make everything go back to normal and get my hard drive to stop thinking it's the desktop?

Oh by the way when I moved those folders in the first place it removed it from C:/Users/Name/ So basically I don't have the original Desktop folder at all...

Since everything appears to be okay with the new account, I don't see any reason why it should work! Good job with that idea though!
Keep in mind that you can't really delete the built-in admin account and the profile data will be lost if you delete your old one. I strongly recommend you to backup everything somewhere else before tempering with the data. I'd also suggest...
Hey there, iTzAsTr0x!

It seems like quite the mess, I'm sorry to hear about it! :( Unfortunately, since the System restore is not an option, I think the best thing to do is to re-install the OS altogether or use a Window System Repair Disk/USB. Doing a clean/fresh install of Windows would definitely solve your issue, but I'm guessing you don't have the installation media since you are cloning.
However, from the looks of it, you would need to buy a new OS. If the one you have was pre-installed on the computer, you can simply create a bootable USB/DVD with the .ISO file of your OS version from MS website and install it.
Once you go online, the system will activate automatically. If you have the Product key written somewhere on a sticker on your desktop, you can simply type it again to activate.
Just make sure you unplug the HDD before starting the clean installation on the SSD, otherwise you'd encounter an OS confusion that will most probably result in booting issues.
Back up your data somewhere else right away, before attempting any troubleshooting! Better safe than sorry, right?

Hope this was helpful! :)

Question...Would Making a new account on my PC, setting it as admin and deleting the old account work? Or would my hard drive still be the desktop

EDIT: I just tested it on another account, and my Storage works as a hard drive and it doesn't have a "Location" tab as a hard drive should. Plus my programs are all still in there. Could this method possibly work?

I'd also suggest you this link that explains how to change/re-direct the folders to your HDD: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/redirect-folder-new-location#1TC=windows-7

Good luck! Hope it works out for the best! :)

WAIT! That fixed it! I couldn't get my hard drive to stop acting as the desktop but when I put the location as C:\\Users\Name\Desktop instead of C:\Users\Name\Desktop it fixed it...wow I was wondering why I saw people using two \'s lol Thanks for all your help!
