Power supply slightly too weak for GPU - problem?

A friend gave me a great video card (XFX R7800) I'd like to install on my desktop - problem is, it's listed as needing 500-650w and my power supply is apparently 460w.

Can I get away with the difference, or is it too risky to install?

It's on an HP: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01636219 All the spec listing says is "Power supply 460W." Do I need to open up the case? I can't find it in my device manager or computer properties, but I'm probably just not reading it right. =\

Good to know, thank you [though I admit your jargon is a bit above my head] - I'll look into upgrading the PSU to be on the safe side and keep things running smoothly. I appreciate the wisdom!

Ah I see. Yeah, bought the PC in June 2009...probably should upgrade anyways. Thank you again!
