Hi guys,

For the past 10 days I have been buying parts to build my PC and now that I finally had all of them I've started putting them together. I've installed on my motherboard the processor, cooler, video card and the rams only and connected these to the power supply. However, when I turn it on, the motherboard doesn't beep. I do get visuals and I did get into bios and surfed it for a couple of minutes without problems.

Should I take it that everything works alright?

Cheers,
Manu

It should look like this:

It plugs in on most motherboards somewhere near the front panel header.

If you don't have one, you can buy one from here:

Check whether the motherboard speaker is connected to the motherboard. I suspect that your mb does not have one, so you aren't hearing any beeps. If it boots up without any problems, and doesn't BSOD or give errors, then there is no need to worry :).

I don't think I have the speaker connected. I thought this was a hardware switch and didn't require a speaker to output the beeping noise. I will connect all the other components and cables today and check how that works.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Will come back in a day or two and post the result.

There's a little speaker that plugs in where the front panel headers are. Looks like a thick, black shirt button with a 2-pin connecter, IIRC (I have the same motherboard).

To be honest, though, I don't think mine beeps at startup either, but I could have set it so that it doesn't beep every time.

Make sure you have a connector on your motherboard first.

Cheers guys!

I've checked some videos out and for some people it came with the Motherboard. Not my case though. Anyway, I put everything together now and installed my OS and everything seems to be running smooth. I won't be bothering myself buying that.
