Hi, I today bought a asus dcu2 7970 today from a store and it started to artefact, but only very very little. I am guessing my psu doesnt have enough power?

I have a corsair cx600(i know its not the best)

So I underclocked the gpu and it is running fine, no problems now, but is this safe? should I just return the card and get a different one which uses less power?

I need to know quickly so I can take it back today, because the company I got it from will only refund in cash on the same day other than that its vouchers

thanks

The HD7970 (according to Asus) uses 300W so as far as I know a 600W PSU like you have should work.

What have you tried?
Everything on the Motherboard and the card getting the correct amount of power?
Updating drivers?
Is the card fully compatible with the Mobo?
You have it in the right PCI slot right?

Simple questions I know.

Yeah everything is fine, everything gets correct amount of power, latest driver, it is fully compatible

I think the problem is, that all 7970's are 1x8pin and 1x6 pi, where as for some reason the asus dcu2 is 2x8 pins, making me assume its using a bit more power?

I ended up keeping the card in the end, underclocked its been acting brilliant!
