1.I just switched my i7 4770k to my other PC which had a i5 4690k and put that 4690k into the PC with the 4770K. Now when i run CPU ID, it still shows that I have the 4770k instead of the 4690K.

2.Also, my PC with the i7 4770k now, doesn't display anything on my monitor. It turns on, all the fans and stuff but the monitor turns black any idea?

Solution
1. you may have to reinstall windows to fix that. Check the bios/post screen to see if the right cpu is displayed.

2. did you install the cpu correctly? Try removing the cmos battery and putting it back in.

Is there anyway to maybe fix the windows thing? It won't bother me but reinstalling windows is something im not looking forwards to doing again. Can it affect performance or anything?

2. CPU is in correctly and just removed the CMOS Battery and giving it about 5mins.

The pc with the i5 4690k now works fine. It's just the one with the i7 4770k isn't displaying anything. Will update once battery is back in

I've actually used this i7 4770K with this same motherboard

Probably just needs a CMOS reset then. Let us know how the battery pull goes.

no luck. I can't seem to find the problem. Everything is in properly. Everything was working just fine before I swapped. These exact parts I have worked a while back when I used this mobo + cpu.

Try re-seating all of your components, RAM etc. and see if that helps. Failing that, I'd try a BIOS firmware update anyway, if there's a newer one available for your mobo.

Black screen still. How do I go about updating my mobo in this situation. Also, after a few minutes, the PC turns off.

If you're able to, I'd try putting the other CPU back in to see if it still fails to boot. If it does boot, you would be able to run the update.

I somehow got the processors mixed up and they both ended up with the wrong MB. I honestly don't know how I could have misplaced them. Thanks for all the helps guys!

edit: I thought both of my MB supported both processors I had. i7 4770K and i5 4690K
