I have 4GB (2x2's) and 2 slots free. I want to add a 4GB card to one of the slots.

You will lose the dual channel mode and you may actually experience a decrease in performance. It would not be a major impact for multitasking (which is the reason more RAM would be useful), but for apps dependant on memory bandwidth it could hurt.

So adding 2x2 would be a better solution?
If so, would any 2x2's work?(ddr3's of course)?
Or do they have to be G.skill 9-9-9-24?

The performance hit from losing dual channel isn't big, you will only notice it if you run benchmarks. Still, for stability reasons i would recommend getting exactly the same 2x2gb kit for the upgrade. If you can't find exactly the same kit, try to buy 2x2gb kit with exactly the same data rate and latencies.

Those are pretty old, didn't find them anywhere.
I know latency is the 9-9-9-24 thing, but what is data rate? Can you point it out in the pictures I've provided?
There are many frequencies there lol

it is 1333mhz, clearly indicated on the screenshots. dual channel mode can offer up to 17% performance in memory intensive apps like CFD modeling and simulation and to a lesser extent significant in video encoding apps etc.

Realistically it will probably be absolutely fine. I am just saying that certain things will be affected.

If the 4GB stick will even play with your current 2x2GB set, then should e able to run in dual still if the mobo supports AMDs approach to flex mode, would put the 4GB stick in cahannel A (slot 1) and the 2x2GB in slots 3-4 (channel B) - then you have 4GB in each channel and maintain dual channel mode with all

Oh that's great to hear! My mobo(I guess that's short for motherboard?) is Asus M5A78L. How do I check if it supports it?
Right now my 2x2gb's are in 3 and 4.
