Hi, I've recently discovered a problem with my internet connection.
When I connect directly to the modem a green light lights up on it and the network status in the control panel shows I have access to Gigabit ethernet. however as soon as I connect via the router specified in the title, it changes to orange and the speed lowers to a 100mbps.

Now, supposedly the router operates at a maximum of 300mbps, yet whenever I do a speedtest the result is around a 100 megabits per second and while connected directly it's above 140.

I haven't found any setting to change this on the configuration page of the router so I'm humbly asking for advice.

I'll provide further detail if anyone needs it. Thank you in advance.

Your router only has 10/100Mbps ports, so when you connect it to your modem, the connection speed lowers to 100Mbps.

The 300Mbps max spec of the router is for wireless speed only for local connections.

If you have more than 100Mbps internet service (the speeds that you pay from from your internet provider), you may want to get a new router that has a gigabit WAN/Internet port.

If your internet service is lower than 100Mbps, then you are fine.
