Planning on first build. Been doing a bit of research. Build below. I am planning on getting the GPU at a later date and am wanting to know if a GPU is required as this CPU has no integrated graphics?

I have done some research and found out that it depends on the mobo as old version wouldn't allow a computer to start but newer ones should be fine but there was a bit of contradiction in the discussion. As long as the computer can handle turning itself on and basic things such as streaming videos, browsing web without GPU or being slow, then I'm fine with that.

Based on that, is there any particular mobo that you would recommend? I want to spend around £50 but no more than £80 on a mobo. I have come across a mobo that appears good (listed below) but hoping for one a bit cheaper around £50. From what I gathered each mobo can support certain RAM, so i can only decide what to get once i know the RAM. looking to spend around £50 for 2x4GB RAM.

The CPU support for the mobo listed below says it supports FX8350 Vishera version. The CPU i am planning on getting doesn't refer/mention "Vishera". http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8350-Edition-Processor-4-2GHz/dp/B009O7YUF6. Could someone please confirm that they are compatible and what it means by Vishera.

I don't care much about appearance or brand. I see this as an investment which performance wise should last several years.

My current desktop (very outdated and many years old) has the following PSU Jeantech JN120F-450-AP - specs of this PSU, can't find much info about it online so this may help

. Would everything work fine until i get the GPU? Would it still work with the GPU? Apparently this is a 450Watts but I see it being referred to in posts going back to 2005

£130 AMD FX8350 Black Edition 125watts
£35 EVGA 500W PC Power Supply
£50 Kingston 120GB SSD (will likely be using external HDD also)
£50 (approx.) for 8gb RAM (2 x 4GB)
£80 mobo MSI 970 Gaming
£50 Windows 8
£395 total - was wanting to spend less than £300 total, including GPU :(

get a later date
£150 SAPPHIRE AMD R9 280 Graphics Card (3GB, DDR5) 250watts PCIe 3.0

What do people think about this set-up? Would you consider it good value for money?

The reason for AMD FX8350 over Intel is because of price mainly, and I think it's a good CPU considering the cost of it. I was considering the AMD A10 which does have integrated graphics but performance the FX8350 is better.

UPADTE: just realised this mobo doesn't have an adapter to connect to a monitor. has anyone got some advice about what I can do?

Because you are in the Europe area, I recommend go to intel system, the price is almost same, but the performance is better, but it is up to you make the call.
If you use the AMD FX cpu, you need the GPU, other MB you may consider, like Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P, or Asus M5A97 R2.0 or evo R2.0, even you use the fx8320. If you buy the intel system, you don't need the GPU now, because it has the intel iGPU.

First things first - no, without integrated graphics you will have no display from your computer at all, so something is Needed, if you want to use the computer.
Yes all FX-8350's are vishera and it is the name for the Cpu's technology.
Also here is a link where a few of the things you have listed are slightly cheaper
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/hPjtBm
and I will also have a look at a good motherboard within your specified budget, but not sure what outcome of that will be.
One more thing, if you do plan on getting the FX-8350 and an r9 280x you will need a larger power supply, something like a 700W would be needed, you would probably not get away with a 500W one.

Also one more thing, what is this computer for? apart from what you mentioned about streaming, will there be any gaming, if not I would not get such a nice video card like the r9 280x and probably go for the A10 on it's own

I like this build and after comparing overall price and performance, I have decided to go down the intel path for CPU. I am about to order it soon.

I have come across an alternative Motherboard which is a Gigabyte brand so is apparently better?
Would you say that the following motherboard would be better instead of the one suggested?
£62.69 Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel LGA1150 Z97

I checked the compatibility and everything seems compatible, but want some other opinion before I purchase everything else. Would my current PSU work for the time being until I get a GPU?

I do intend to use it for gaming, but will be the main entertainment system. Will likely use it to play 4k 3D TV in a few years when the price of the TV is reduced. So may go for another GPU if that can't support it, but that's for another time.
