Greetings All,
I am stumped!! I hope you all can help find a solution. I build computers for a living, I am not a pro yet not a rookie, and lets assume that I follow the basic safety precautions such as using an anti-staic mat, unplugging the psu and then hitting the power button to drain excess power before going into a computer.
I am doing a build with these key components --
ASRock z97 Extreme6 mobo
GSkill Ripjaw X series 16 GB 2133 RAM
Intel i7-4790S
Sapphire Radeon r9 270x Dual-X 4GB GPU
Here is what is happening.
Everything is put together and I cant get the computer to consistently display via GPU. The GPU turns on as I can see the fans spinning. At first, I disconnected both power cables from the gpu (requires 2 6 pin VGA power cables). turned on the computer via on board graphics so I installed all the drivers for the mobo etc.I then turned it off and plugged the power to the gpu back, connected everything, connected to the gpu and when I powered it on there was no signal. I turned the computer off, connected via on board display and powered it on. There was no signal! Ugh! While the computer was running, I took the monitor cable connection off from the on board dvi display and connected the cable to the gpu dvi connection and it worked! Since it worked, I loaded the drivers for the gpu while the display was showing via the GPU.
I then turned the computer on while connected to the on board graphics, removed the Intel grpahics driver, did an uninstall reinstall of the AMD graphics, reboted and it didnt work! I disconnected from the dvi and reconnected and it works! This is odd!!
Now, the ONLY way I can get it to display is if I disconnect/reconnect the monitor cable from the GPU.
I did go into bios and make sure the settings for PCI was turned on.
Any solutions please would be wonderful!!
