Yesterday I got a 100Mb download/10Mb upload speed FTTH connection installed at home by the company's technicians. I'm getting the full 100Mb download speed when I go wired on any computer - however, when I go wireless, the speed is greatly reduced, never surpassing 18mbits.
I've done some tests and here are the results:
All tests were done at speedtest.net using the closest server.
I get the same speed no matter how far I get from the router, so I don't think speed loss is caused by lack of wi-fi signal. Could it be the router? It's a Huawei HG8245H and it's the one that the company's technicians brought.

On my room's desktop PC (which is about 30ft away from the router), using TP-LINK TL-WN722N USB adapter (which complies with 802.11n and supports up to 150Mbps), I get 17-18Mbits
On my Toshiba C70B laptop, with an integrated wifi adapter which has the same capabilities as the TP-LINK above, I get pretty much the same. This laptop has been tested at about 13ft from the router.
On my Acer Aspire One D255 netbook, using the same TP-LINK Wi-Fi adapter as in the first test, at a distance of barely 2ft, I get about 17Mbps again.
