I had a few issues with my computer, whether the pci-e slots wouldn't work or the graphics card will heat up to almost 100*c (210 Fahrenheit). So I decided to unscrew my graphics card, clean the dust out and put new "Thermal Paste" , I was very careful with not messing up anything.

I cleaned it, put it back and whenever I run something like a game or anything that will usually heat up the graphics card, the screen will get pixelated and only a manual restart will work. If I don't run anything the computer can stay awake for hours with no problems.

Specs:
GPU - AMD radeon hd 7900 series

Motherboard - MSI X79A-GD65 (8D)

RAM - 16gb

CPU - Intel Core i7-3930k @ 3.20GHz

High temperature was normal for this GPU, 100 was rare but it happened. Usuauly it reached around 90c.
Could that be because I screwed something up when opening the graphics card? I doubt it but maybe?

Ill try another cable, monitor..
How much will cost a graphics card with similar specs? or maybe better even.. but with reasonable price.

NOTE: When it gets pixelated, I can still hear sound for a few more seconds untill it completely stops.

Card cost depends on the exact card. Yours is '7900 series'. But nothing specific eg 7950, 7980, 7970.

A 7970 is now called a R9 280X eg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202137&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Looks like a nice GPU, can I get some more help/tips or whatever to try before I purchase anything?
yes, It only started to happen after I opened the GPU and cleaned it. Could it be related to the old Thermal Pads it has? since its the only thing I haven't switched? (NOTE: Thermal Pads not Thermal Paste)

Please help.
