Hello,

So i got a WD My Book as an external HDD and a random internal HDD. After i reinstalled windows on my new pc, both of the HDD's became very slow. Testing the writing speed on dxtory gets both to around 25 mb/s, while the external 3.0 USB External HDD used to be 100 MB/S (not sure about my internal, but that one reaches max 30 mb/s).
I tried looking for USB updates, but couldn't find any.
Should I maybe update my MOBO? I'd really like to hear from your guys as my pc is very slow right now :/

Hey there, Brent!

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you encounter with your system. Good job with trying the drive on another computer to determine the root of the issue. First, I'd suggest you to check your Device Manager and make sure you have all the needed drivers installed. If you see anything in a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark, this means that you need drivers there. I'd suggest to check you motherboard's website and search for your model to find any updates on them. I'd even re-install the drivers on your computer from there, if I were you.

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting! :)

Hello!

I checked for updates with the Intel driver center, but that didn't show any outdated drivers. So i decided to get the CD that came with the motherboard and just run that. There was an installation option there for USB 3.0 drivers. I did that, but it said that the installed drivers on my pc where a newer version. I continued anyway, so i basically downgraded my USB 3.0 drivers to an older version. Now everything works perfectly :p Write speed is now 105 MB/s

Thanks for the help SuperSoph_WD!
