Hello, I'm looking to factory reset one of my drives because I have never done so since I built my computer about two and a half years ago. However I currently have two HDD's, and since the second one I just recently bought, I would like to put my backups on there and just restore my original drive, while of course keeping the OS and important files on it. How can this be done?

Solution
you could put all the stuff you want to keep on your second drive, reformat the C: drive, reinstall OS, move stuff off the second drive back on to the C: drive then format the second drive or what ever you want to do with it.

EDIT: ther eis no way to refresh Win 7 with out moving what you want to keep. Win 8 has this option but not 7.
What OS are you using? IF it is Win 7 it is not possible to do what you want unless you move all files you want to keep to a different media device and reinstall the OS and move stuff back.

In win 8/8.1 there is an option to do so in your charms menu on the right. YOu will have to go into PC settings to find it.

I'm using Window's 7, and so there is no possible way to restore and keep the OS? Or just keep the files on one drive and reset the other? I was thinking of buying an external drive for this but was hoping I did not have to.

as bgunner say's save everything you plan to keep onto second/spare drive.... done this a few times with win 7 for saving things like photos favourites(web pages) and documents, but no real point in saving installed programmes from programme files this would result in them not working or crashing in my experience. but by all means save any game saves you can but not the games and programmes just fresh install those
