Hi, i am planning to build a gaming rig (also for rendering use).

So i have chosen:

Ram: Corsair V. 1600mhz 8gb x 2 =16 GB
Graphics: Msi Gtx 970 OC Edition
Display:
BenQ XL2411Z 24-inch LED Gaming Monitor (144hz 3d vision ready)

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked @8m cache 4.0 to 4.4 ghz
HDD: Toshiba Surveillance Hard Disk 2Tb 7200 Rpm
Motherboard: MSI z97 Gaming 5
SMPS: Corsair 550w psu

Other:

Nvidia 3d vision 2 kit, Circle CC 830 Cabinet, Logitech g400s gaming mouse, Mad Catz Cyborg V.7 Gaming Keyboard (its awesome).

Total: 1,40,000 INR ~ 2202 USD :( (Indian price sucks)

This is my first build plan, please suggest if i am missing something or need to replace something for better one. Thanks!

-------------Parts Choice----------------

The i7-5820K is a 6 core, overclockable processor that wili help in both rendering and gaming.
The xeon is basically the i7 processor without the overclocking ability. So, with 4 physical and hyperthreading cores, this processor should function equally well in both games and editing/rendering.

If possible keep the GTX 980 as your Graphics card because the GTX 970 suffers from gimped VRAM subsystem so if the graphics textures exceed 3.5 GB the card becomes very slow and stutters alot.

Avoid Corsair as a Power supply. They make good enough units for everyday use but are just not reliable and steady enough to use in high performance gaming/workstation PCs. I recommend EVGA, XFX or Seasonic according to this PSU list which is a trusted source of PSU capablity. I am aware that seasonic is available in India so please get that especially if you're overclocking.

And finally, the gaming mouse and keyboard choice is really awesome. Tell me which build you like. Cheers :)

awesome! but the sad part is, every part costs 1.7x more here in india, so i am just changing the psu, hdd, memory and cpu maybe (is xeon e3 better than 4790k ? being its only 3.3ghz vs 4.0 base clock of the 4790k) as you advised, Thanks a lot!
And i won't do mainstream rendering, just for occassional use.

and finally, do i really need a 850w psu? already going over-budget.
I saw seasonic 620w for a reasonable price. is it okay?

Yea I know how computer parts price is very inflated n places other than the US. Like the GTX 980 from MSI costs approximately 800 us dollars in my country. :( Still good decision on changing the PSU and if possible get the GTX 980 as the GTX 970 WILL stutter a lot especially if you're going to play in 3D. The K series i7 and mobo choice is good just get a good cpu cooler to keep things cool and to get great overclocks from that processor. And my last advice try to get a SSD even a small 120GB one and put Windows in it. Believe me you CAN SEE and FEEL the difference from a traditional HDD. Your computer running SSD will boot in like 5-10 seconds for windows 7 and faster still for windows 8 and the PC will feel very responsive and fast.

EDIT: No if its the i7-4790k and a GTX 970 or 980 then a 550W to 600W PSU is enough.

THis PSU is enough for You with single graphics card

The main strength of the i7-4790k is that it can be overclocked. Otherwise, this and the Xeon has the same 4 cores+4hyperthreads and 8MB cache. The Xeon will be a little slower due to the lower clockspeed but only in benchmarks and such and it will not be something noticeable to you in general tasks. If not overclocking, then the Xeon is better choice as it is cheaper with very little loss in performance.

980 is out of my budget, 970 costs 29k inr while the 980 costs 57k (1usd=62inr), So how about if i get 970 SLI in future if i need one. yeah, i chose the seasonic from snapdeal. But i saw two products, 1 with bronze certification and other without with ~$17 price difference(though different sellers) are they same?

And again, xeon isn't available in india, crap, so i choose 4790k

EDIT: Are the corsair 8gx2 @1600mhz rams ok?

Not likely, most probably a ripoff. Seasonic M12II series is 80+ Bronze certified. Get that one even if it costs more. Try to match the model number with the flipkart link that I gave. And the GTX 970 has a video memory issue that makes the card unstable if you use more than 3.5 GB of the 4GB VRAM it has.
Read these Article 1 and Artcle 2 with the help of Google to better understand the problem. Doing a SLI setup will not solve it WHY??

If you're open to further suggestions, try the AMD R9 290 or the R9 290x. These card have better bandwidth and can use all 4GB of VRAM smoothly. The only problem is they are power hungry so you will need at least 750W PSU. More is better. The 290 is around 27K INR while the 290x is 35-40k INR I believe.
