How to make Hyper 212 EVO quieter?

I've researched it for a bit and it seems there's three routes I can take. Buying a quieter fan for the heatsink, buying a fan controller, or changing the fan speed? Which one would be best, and how would I go about on doing them?

Well, 2 of those choices involve you slowing down your fan, which while it may well reduce the noise levels, it will also reduce the cooling, and heat is a CPU's worst enemy.

Check out Noctua fans. They have been designed to be quiet, yet push lots of air at the same time. They cost more than your average fan, but they also come with a 6 year warranty. Buy fans that are the same dimensions as the ones you are replacing, and they should fit fine for you.

I guess you have better ears than I do.
I have the 212 PLUS, and cannot hear the fan unless I take the side panel off, and stick my head right inside the case.

But yes....just change the fan. It is a standard 120mm mount.

Yep, I was considering those. And yeah, I feel the same way about the fan controller. Would these be good?

It seems to me that mine is at 100% fan speed no matter what. It's a bit ridiculous because I can hear it, and it's inside a Define R4 with all the soundproofing on. Anyway I can make it like dynamic so that if the CPU isn't being used that heavily, it'll be quieter?

Thanks, depending on whether or not I'll make the fan dynamic, but I'll go with that one, if I decide to change it. I'm trying to save as much money as possible.

I will let you make your own choices. I try to point people to what I believe to be the right products, but I let you make the decisions on what you buy on your own.

I also agree with the USAfret above your latest response. I have the CM Hyper 212 EVO and I cannot hear it unless the side panel is off of the computer. If your case is open, Close it up. That is how your computer is designed to function. Another benefit is that then, if you cannot hear it anymore, you won't need to buy new quieter fans.

Well, my case is closed 24/7 and I also have a Define R4 with all soundproofing. It seems to me that the EVO 212 is running at 100% nonstop, and I downloaded Speed Fan and tried it on 50% and it was MUCH quieter. Is there anyway I can make the CPU fan dynamic? I'd rather not run on 50% all the time, since I'm pretty sure that my CPU will overheat.

Does your motherboard support dynamic fan controls? I think all Asus motherboards do, and some motherboards from other vendors do. But I do not know which do and which do not.

If your motherboard has 4 pin fan connectors, it would almost certainly support dynamic fan speeds.

Actually it's not a problem. I'm upgrading to the i5 4590 and a Asus Maximus VI Hero, so its all good. Saw a video on the BIOS and it has a silent fan mode. Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to keep the fan, and just wait until my new mobo comes in. I can't wait.
