Hello,

My current computer has the following specifications:
GTX 970, i5 2500k, and an ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 motherboard.

Although my i5 has served me well over the years, it's bottlenecking my card. I have been reading online and so far it seems like the only way to fix a bottleneck is to replace the CPU; however, I also found several tutorials online about overclocking the i5 to a stable 4.6 Ghz. Essentially my question is should I overclock my CPU and see if that fixes my bottlenecking issue, or should I look for a new cpu?

Thanks

Solution
Yes, OC the CPU. That is what it is designed for. My i5-2500K @ 4.2GHz never bottlenecked my R9-290X card in my sig below.
But be sure you have the necessary [strike]motherboard and[/strike] PSU for OC'ing.
