BIOS update on GA-970A-D3 in order to support the FX 4300 I'm already using?

I've got a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 (rev. 1.4) motherboard and an fx 4300 amd cpu, which I've been using together since November 2012. Because the motherboard advertised support for the new vishera cpus, I assumed it had this support out of the box, and it seems to have worked fine for the past 2.5 years. But looking at the bios updates and supported cpu page, I found out that this board supposedly doesn't support it until BIOS F11, and I have F10, the first version that came with the board.

Like I said, I haven't necessarily noticed any problems, with performance or in general, but this might just be because I never had it any other way. When I tried to read up on this, most people were saying that their computers wouldn't even POST with an unsupported cpu, and that in order to update to a BIOS that supports it you need to use an older cpu. It seems like trying to update while using an unsupported cpu could cause an installation issue, too. I'd like to be able to overclock, and I can only assume the AGESA update and compatibility with the cpu would help increase stability.

SO. Should I update my BIOS? should I update to the F13b beta BIOS, since it updates the AGESA code, or just use the newest stable one? And can I even do it with this cpu? I have no other AM3 socket cpus, so if it's a bad idea I'll just leave it.
