My Toshiba L750 laptop HDD is not working well. I wish to replace the HDD with a SATA Solid State drive. I think the Toshiba has a ATA interface for the HDD. Will the SSD drive be compatible and work well on the laptop?

Hey there, Domhardware.

Your laptop is with a SATA II interface, so there should be no problem for you to replace your HDD with an SSD. In fact you could get an HDD/SSD caddy and replace your optical drive, in order to be able to have an SSD and an HDD at the same time.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Boogieman_WD. Appreciate. Toshiba support said that they would not recommend SSD: big help!
Could you tell where did you get this info? Looked everywhere in System>drives, etc only found ATA. I believe SSD size would not make any difference, going for a 500GB.
I was thinking there was no hope for this computer! Thanks again, Domhardware

You're most welcome.
Well I googled "toshiba l750 technical specifications" and I got it from one of the websites with info on the model. I guess that from the customer support said that it is not recommended as it has SATA II interface which means speeds of up to 300MB/s and a modern SSD has speeds of up to 400-500MB/s and more. This means that it would be bottlenecked by the SATA II interface. But that doesn't mean that you can't use the SSD with a SATA II port. Plus still get to benefit from the 90% faster access time of an SSD compered to an HDD. As for the SSD size - you should be OK with a 500GB one in my opinion, but if you have any doubts about this - you could check with the customer support again.
