This is going to be my first build and I'm a bit nervous. This PC will be mainly used as a media center, but I'd also like to start digitizing my Bluray collection and do a bit of gaming. I'd like to build something kind of future-proof, something that could be upgraded if needed.
My current list of components are:

■ Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I74790K Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600
■ ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI 8 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
■ EVGA 02G-P4-2966-KR GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video ...(02G-P4-2966-KR)
■ Cooler Master V1000 - 1000W Power Supply with Fully Modular Cables and 80 PLUS Gold Certification
■ Crucial MX100 CT512MX100SSD1 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
■ CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10
■ LG Black Blu-ray Disc Drive SATA Model UH12NS30 - OEM
■ Creative Sound Blaster Z PCIe 116dB SNR Gaming Sound Card with 600ohm Headphone Amp and Beamforming Microphone
■ Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD20EFRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Currently undecided between two cases:
■ Corsair Vengeance Series Black C70 Mid Tower Computer Case (CC-9011016-WW)
■ Thermaltake Core V71 Extreme Full Tower Chassis, Compatible With Extreme Liquid Cooling Builds (CA-1B6-00F1WN-00)

I would appreciate any feedback or advice. I'm still very much a noob when it comes to picking out components so if any of these choices aren't compatible or seem ill conceived please let me know. My key objectives with this build are: short boot time, efficient fast as possible bluray ripping and re-encoding, and moderate gaming. I plan on starting with a single 2gb slave drive for my video collection and adding an additional drives down the road.

Solution
Fast and Blu-Ray ripping don't typically go together. You can only read from the disk so fast...

CPU COOLER - Don't forget one.
MB - The ASRock below is a very nice board with 8 SATA ports for hard drive expansion.
MEM - 16GB is a lot. Consider 8GB (2x4GB) for now with the option to add two more modules.
SSD - At that size range, the Samsung EVO is a better purchase as it is a touch faster and the Crucial isn't less expensive.
HD - WD Red drives are more optimized for NAS solutions. No need to pay more for that type of drive...
SOUND CARD - Not needed. The onboard sound will be fine.
CASE - The Fractal below holds 8 internal 3.5" drives and is a very good price at the moment.
PSU - XFX or Seasonic. 850w is more than enough power...

In fact, sub $1200 sound cards are on par with the onboards of the Maximus Series, it's a personal taste but I would stick to it.
